IV therapy administered at home

VELETRI® is a prescription medicine that is given intravenously (in a vein). It is used to treat adults with certain kinds of severe pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) (WHO Group 1), a condition in which blood pressure is too high in the blood vessels between the heart and the lungs. VELETRI® may improve your ability to exercise as measured by how far you can walk in 6 minutes (6-minute walk test).

Studies showing VELETRI® is effective mainly included patients with New York Heart Association (NYHA) Functional Class III-IV PAH. In these patients, PAH was caused by unidentified or hereditary factors or connective tissue disease.

VELETRI® offers:

The same active pharmaceutical ingredient as Flolan® (epoprostenol sodium)1,2

The active ingredient of VELETRI® (epoprostenol) for Injection is epoprostenol, which is a prostacyclin. VELETRI® adds back the prostacyclin your body is missing. Epoprostenol opens up, or dilates, the blood vessels in the lungs. Once the blood vessels are open, oxygen-rich blood can flow more easily.3

Unlike Flolan®, VELETRI® can be mixed (reconstituted) with either Sterile Water for Injection, USP, or Sodium Chloride 0.9% Injection, USP, both of which are commercially available.1 Flolan® requires the use of its own diluent when preparing.2

Important: VELETRI® is stable only when reconstituted as directed using Sterile Water for Injection, USP, or Sodium Chloride 0.9% Injection, USP. VELETRI® must not be reconstituted or mixed with any other intravenous medications or solutions prior to or during drug administration. The same solution must be used for both reconstituting and diluting VELETRI®. Do not combine sterile water with normal saline when preparing VELETRI®.

24-hour room temperature (68°F to 77°F/20°C to 25°C) stability at all concentrations

The option to prepare a week’s worth of doses (up to 8 cassettes) at one time to keep in the refrigerator (36°F to 46°F/2°C to 8°C)1
